What to Expect at Your Appointment

A brief, predictable visit helps busy professionals move through fingerprinting with confidence. Most appointments take about 10–15 minutes once you arrive.

1. Before you come: Bring a government-issued photo ID, any request form or paperwork from your licensing board or agency, and your ORI and purpose code if they were provided.
2. Check-in: Our team verifies your ID, reviews your paperwork, confirms who should receive the results, and answers any last questions.
3. Fingerprinting: Your fingerprints are captured electronically using live scan equipment; each hand is rolled on the scanner following the technician’s guidance.
4. After your visit: Your fingerprints are submitted electronically to the Illinois State Police and, when required, the FBI; you leave with a receipt and Transaction Control Number (TCN) that you may need to complete your FOID/CCL or licensing application.
